A few years back, our shepherds suggested Cherie and I do a Marriage Seminar here at Westside. Westside hasn’t had one in quite a while. If memory serves properly, John and Carla Moore conducted our last one about 6 years ago. Cherie and I last did one at Westside 13 years ago.
Admittedly we are older now, but we hope we won’t be too out of touch, out of date or out of sharing our amazement of what God-centered marriage is all about. In fact, perhaps God in His grace has made us even more mindful of what He’s designed in marriage! Please mark your calendar for November 8-9, a Friday evening and Saturday.
But WHY? Why have and participate in a Marriage Seminar? Here’s an answer we trust will motivate and encourage you.
1. Because God, our shepherds and the members of Westside care about you and the state and quality of your marriage.
2. Because regardless of how great a marriage and family may be, God can make it better. And regardless of painful and broken a marriage and family may seem, God can bring healing, forgiveness and blessing.
3. Because God-centered marriage and home must be biblically spoken about, defined and illustrated often. God has a place in many marriages and homes, but too often not the preeminent place! There’s far too much misunderstanding, misinformation and confusion.
4. Because God designed and desires our marriage and home to be a place of joy, peace, trust and hope.
5. Because Satan wants to attack our marriages and homes – and sometimes we thoughtlessly invite him in!
6. Because our marriages and families are to depict even deeper, richer spiritual realities and blessings. 7. Because the relationship of marriage and home is precious and worth working at, praying about, fighting for and growing in. In fact, it’s the journey of a lifetime!
