Things Associated With the Gospel

Too many people simply have not thought long and hard about the Gospel. As a result, people are confused – and the gospel often is assumed or reduced. Thankfully, a study of things associated with the gospel will do much to remove the confusion, faulty assumptions and misguided reductions which too often occur.

Let’s highlight 20 truths/blessings associated with the gospel. Admittedly, it’s a lot to try to take in, and that precisely the point!

1. The Kingdom of God. See Matt. 4:23. This has to do with the reign, redemption, and restoration Jesus came to bring about.
2. The fulfillment of the story of the Old Testament. See Luke 4:16-21; 24:44.
3. The matter of discipleship. Acts 14:21.
4. The grace of God. Acts 20:24.
5. A message to proclaim, and to send others with, so people might respond in obedience of faith. Romans 10:15-16; 16:25.
6. The power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16.
7. Potentially for all and certainly needed by all. Romans 1:16.
8. Results in sometimes forgoing our rights due to the blessings/privileges enjoyed. 1Corinthians 9:12-13.
9. Removes sinful pride and boasting. See 1 Corinthians 9:16.
10. Deals with matters of first importance. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
11. Leads to the providential opening of doors. 2 Corinthians 2:12.
12. Originated in Mind of God and Revealed By the Holy Spirit. See Galatians 1:6-12.
13. Intimately related to the word of truth and to the sealing of the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13.
14. Informs and encourages our prayers. Ephesians 6:18-20.
15. Is to be furthered or advanced. Philippians 1:12.
16. Is to be lovingly and humbly displayed in every area of our lives. Philippians 1:27.
17. Concerns our message and words, our character and our emotions and feelings. See 1 Thessalonians 1:5.
18. Often faces conflict and difficulty. 1 Thessalonians 2:2.
19. Proclaims the certainty of judgment for the wicked and rest for the faithful. See 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10.
20. Makes us family, sanctifies us and leads us home to glory. See 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14.

These are just a few of the things associated with the “good news.” What right-thinking person would want to miss out on the blessings and privileges of the gospel? And who wouldn’t want to share it?
